BME Procurement Excellence Award 2022 (SME): Tacto and Mobil Elektronik Win with Joint Procurement Digitalization Project

Together with our customer Mobil Elektronik (ME), we won the first-ever BME Procurement Excellence Award (SME) with the "Project: Future-Proof Procurement through Data-Driven Decisions and Automation of Manual Tasks." With this award, BME recognizes the excellence of a mid-sized model company in the field of procurement (...).

The project was about ME needing a digital solution for procurement that would allow the digitalization of manual and Excel-based data evaluations and tedious, MS Office-based organizational processes with suppliers. In doing so, ME discovered the software solution Tacto and was able to achieve various procurement successes. Overall, the transformation at ME was so successful thanks to Tacto that the efficiency & resilience of procurement at ME could be significantly improved. Additionally, far-reaching content changes were initiated with employee involvement to implement new strategies and processes.

Using the supplier management module, ME was able to move away from time-consuming, Excel-based processes and data evaluations regarding items, suppliers, and commodity groups toward data transparency at the push of a button. The lack of transparency in the price portfolio could also be eliminated using this module. ME now has more time for strategic tasks and can efficiently prepare for supplier meetings.

Additionally, ME was able to digitalize supplier management. Previously, Robin's team had to rely on extensive email correspondence and confusing Excel files. Thanks to the inquiry module, ME can now flexibly create, send, and manage various supplier inquiries. Furthermore, it allows manual tasks to be automated and evaluated through the software. The process cost savings with this module are significant and amount to, for example, 16 working days per year solely in the area of REACH inquiries.

BME is also convinced of the degree of innovation of this transformation and justifies the award as follows: "ME Mobil Elektronik receives the Procurement Excellence Award 2022 for its innovative concept to optimize procurement processes. ME's procurement department introduced Tacto for process digitalization, a software that adapts to the needs of ME's procurement team and does not dictate which processes can and cannot be mapped."

BME particularly highlighted the simple & fast implementation without significant (IT) resource expenditure, the adaptation to the needs of SME procurement, and the degree of innovation of the project to optimize procurement processes.
